COOPERATION BETWEEN SCIENCE AND BUSINESS SECTORS LEADS TO INCREASED COMPETITIVENESS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES

Croatian scientists from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb, in cooperation with partners -  University of Zagreb, Centre for Research, Development and Technology Transfer, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Slavonski Brod, University of Osijek are exploring how to increase the potential of Additive Technologies (AT) and their commercialization in order to increase the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.

Additive technologies are one of the possibilities that increase competitiveness and innovativeness in production of small and medium enterprises. Additive technologies enable design and production of products that consist of metal, ceramics and polymers in relatively short time and without restrictions in geometrical complexity of products.

The global objective of the project “Additive technologies for the SMEs”, worth nearly 700 000 Euros, is to enhance the potential of Additive Technology (AT) transfer and their commercialisation in order to increase the competitiveness and innovation capabilities of the SMEs from manufacturing sectors.

Additive technology that is not yet available in Croatia will be bought through this project. Apart from that, 40 joint industrial exploitations will be organized in cooperation with target group, SMEs. Associates on the project, CCE and CCTC will help us to choose participants from SMEs.

Through practical implementation of additive technologies in the production program of small and medium enterprises, concrete positive effects on efficiency, cost and speed of production, and thus the competitiveness of products in the market will become evident.
